As a freelance arts professional I work in a wide range of roles that include singer, composer, music consultant, practitioner, and trainer.
I am a well known Community Choir leader and I run several choirs on a weekly basis, as well as running bespoke workshops for harmony singers regionally and nationally. My specialisms include sing lessons and vocal coaching, early years music education and music education for children and young people with SEND, with a special interest in communication difficulties and Autism, Aspergers and other Autistic Spectrum Disorders. I have worked extensively with practitioners, children and their parents in a diverse range of settings – both formal and non-formal – across the Yorkshire region and beyond, and have devised and delivered CPD for a wide range of organisations including The Sage Gateshead, Yorkshire Youth and Music, MAC, NYMAZ and Sing Up. I use my experience of working with a broad range of musical traditions to create repertoire that enriches the musical experiences of her partcipants, in turn extending their cultural awareness and musical appreciation.
I am half of the Folk Arts Development Organisation, Flash Company, alongside my partner David Owen. We run folk sessions, education projects and put on concerts and workshops in and around the Whitby area.
